Storms Ahead - Are You Ready!

Storm Damage Storms Ahead - Are You Ready! There's no telling exactly when trouble may strike. Since that's true, get to know this helpful advice about storm preparedness kits!

Your trusted allies at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills warmly encourage you to prepare for the coming winter storms this year!  Enjoy this blog about preparing storm emergency preparedness kits.

When it comes to weather, we mostly have it made in Southern California.  But the whole point of being prepared for an emergency is things can change and when they do, its important to have planned in advance.

As we head into ‘winter’, we should use the many good days of weather we enjoy to prepare for when the weather turns.   Having a storm kit ready when you need it is an important consideration.

Every good storm kit should include these following items:

  1. Bottled water – A good rule of thumb is to set aside a minimum of one gallon per day for a minimum of three days per person. This water will be used for everything from cooking to drinking to hygiene, so if anything, this could be light.
  2. Food – This needs to be shelf-stable food. You are setting this aside and it will be ready for you when you need it.  But don’t assume you’ll have refrigeration.  Think of yourself as ‘roughing it’.  of gases inside the can).
  3. Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert
  4. Flashlight – pack an extra round of batteries in your kit ‘just in case’.
  5. First aid kit
  6. Sleeping bag or warm blanket for each person
  7. Complete change of clothing appropriate for your climate and sturdy shoes
  8. Household chlorine bleach and medicine dropper to disinfect water
  9. Fire extinguisher
  10. Matches in a waterproof container
  11. Feminine supplies and personal hygiene items
  12. Mess kits, paper cups, plates, paper towels and plastic utensils
  13. Extra batteries – Besides the flashlight, have enough batteries to power a radio, lantern, and any other ‘emergency’ appliances.
  14. Dust mask to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place
  15. Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
  16. Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
  17. Manual can opener for food
  18. Local maps
  19. Cell phone with chargers and a backup battery

In addition to these items, here is a short add-on of other things you might want to make sure you're prepared with.

Additional items you must not be without:

  • Prescription medications
  • Non-prescription medications such as pain relievers, anti-diarrhea medication, antacids or laxatives
  • Glasses and contact lense solution
  • Infant formula, bottles, diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream
  • Pet food and extra water for your pet
  • Cash or traveler's checks
  • Important family documents such as copies of insurance policies, identification and bank account
  • records saved electronically or in a waterproof, portable container
  • Paper and pencil
  • Books, games, puzzles or other activities for children

Of course, once the kits are created the first time, its essential to ensure your kits are ready when you need them.  Here's how to main them!

Maintaining Your Kit

To assemble your kit, store items in airtight plastic bags and put your entire disaster supplies kit in one or two easy-to-carry containers such as plastic bins or a duffel bag.

After assembling your kit remember to maintain it so it’s ready when needed:

Keep canned food in a cool, dry place

  • If you are storing your kits for a long period, make the effort to periodically check your food supply in case the expiration dates are approaching. Most canned items are safe for 18 to 24 months.  You’ll know your canned food has expired if you see any can swell (indicates build up
  • Store boxed food in tightly closed plastic or metal containers – cardboard and paper packaging is like a ‘welcome’ sign for rats.
  • Replace expired items as needed
  • Re-think your needs every year and update your kit as your family’s needs change.

Kit Storage Locations

  • Emergencies don’t care where we are when they happen. We have to out-smart them!  The best way to do this is to keep multiples in locations including home, work and vehicles.
  • Home: Keep this kit in a designated place and have it ready in case you have to leave your home quickly. Make sure all family members know where the kit is kept.
  • Work: Be prepared to shelter at work for at least 24 hours. Your work kit should include food, water and other necessities like medicines, as well as comfortable walking shoes, stored in a “grab and go” case.
  • Vehicle: In case you are stranded, keep a kit of emergency supplies in your car.

Misery Loves Company; But SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills Loves Helping Our Customers!

Water Damage Misery Loves Company; But SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills Loves Helping Our Customers! Water damage in our customer's master bedroom was no match for the restoration heroes at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills!

SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills has been in the water damage restoration business for over eleven years.  We understand how stressed out our customers feel when they’re suddenly faced with water damage.  If they’re also trying to fix the problem on their own, they’re probably also feeling overwhelmed.  It take a ton of knowledge, training, experience and the proper tools to do this work well and to get the desired results.  Ultimately, we find that our customers are better off focusing on the things they do best, and let us do what we do best.  Our customers definitely come out ahead in this equation!  Less stress, less work, better results, less expense in the long run.  It’s a no-brainer!

Sometimes fate plays a role in helping solve problems. One of our recent jobs was in a home in Buena Park.  The home owner had discovered water damage.   We were working in another home, next door to the first man I mentioned.  There was a shared wall between the two homes and the water damage in the first home spread through that wall into the next unit where it damaged the living room, bedroom and of course, the shared wall in question.

Knowing that the first home owner was pleased with our work, we were asked to do an inspection and write an estimate for the second home owner.  Cesar Arcila, one of our Project Managers, was dispatched to meet with the prospective customer and complete the requested estimate.  On receiving approvals, Cesar called in the rest of his project team and got started on the water damage restoration work.

To dry the unit, the crew removed drywall from the living room and the bedroom.  We were able to dry the laminate flooring in the living room and the bedroom carpeting in place.

As he’d suspected he would be, the home owner was very happy with the work we performed in his home.  We were fast, efficient, highly experienced, knowledgeable, and we were able to completely dry out his home while also saving the floors.

Staying Safe From A Storm If You’re Caught Outdoors

9/15/2018 (Permalink)

Storm Damage Staying Safe From A Storm If You’re Caught Outdoors Lightning strikes the tallest object in the area. Taking shelter under a tree may not be the best idea.

The safest place to be in a storm is usually indoors, but sometimes we are caught in situations where that isn’t an option.

In the event that you are caught outdoors, here’s a few quick tips to follow:

Don’t stand under trees.  Lightning usually strikes the tallest object in an area; don’t be under that tree when lightning blasts a giant branch off its side!

Stay away from high voltage powerlines. Don’t get whip-lashed by a live powerline.

No protective structure in sight?  Make a bee-line for your automobile, especially if yours has a metal roof and sides.

If a metal sided/ roofed car is not in sight, get to a lower elevation.  Higher elevations are more likely to get zapped than lower elevations are.

Avoid being in situations where you are the tallest object.  This could include open meadows, athletic fields, golf courses etc.  Remember, the tallest objects in an area are practically ‘lightning targets’.  Don’t be one!

If you feel a staticky sensation in your hair, it could be that a lightning strike is imminent.  In this case, assume a crouched position transferring your weight to the balls of your feet with your shoes touching.  Next, tuck your head and cover your ears (make yourself as small as possible). This will improve the odds of avoiding a direct hit.  When the staticky sensation passes, make a ‘bee line’ for the nearest car or building.

Get Off that Landline!

Did you know?  Lightning can send an electric surge through those phone wires and straight into the receiver, which, by the way, is uncomfortably close to your ear, hand and face.  Shocks from landlines are the number-one source of lightning injuries.

Lightning has been known to travel through telephone wires.  Shocks from landlines are actually the leading source of lightning-related injuries.

Stay Away From Water!

Electricity is an excellent conductor of electricity, so keep a distance from lakes, ponds, swimming pools and even showers and bathtubs.  Avoid touching water taps during a lightning storm; the metal pipes that lead to your sinks and tubs also conduct electricity.

Playing it Safe While Driving

Hands Off!

What if your car is not entirely composed of metal?  This seems to be more the rule than the exception these days,.  While making your car lighter and more fuel efficient, those non-metallic materials actually increase the risk of electrical shock when it rains.  In the event that the car is hit, the current may pass through the vehicle’s electrical systems, the GPS, cell phone chargers, car door handles, foot pedals, steering column and steering wheel.

The most important rule to follow in this case is “Hands Off” the radio!  The best advice in a situation like this is not to touch anything metal in the car’s cabin during the storm – including the radio.

Also, while it’s fun to make that ‘rooster tail’ with your car when you drive through deep water, it’s

The Sun Will Shine Again

No storm lasts forever, and those golden rays are going to shine again.  If there’s been any structural damage to your property, you want to get on it immediately. Don’t delay – that will just make the damage worse, especially if you’ve got wooden floors or wood paneling.  Likewise, you don’t want to give mold a chance to settle in.  All mold needs to thrive is moisture and fibers for a food source.

There’s a lot to restoration; unless you’re very experienced, it’s probably better to call your friendly neighborhood restoration heroes at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills in to help.  We’ve been serving the Orange County community for eleven years and have become the #1 SERVPRO franchise in California during this period by staying true to our values.

We’re there when you need us.  In many cases, we’ll be at your door within an hour of your call.

No one knows restoration better than our team!  We’ve learned that most customers are relieved when they understand what’s happening at each step in the restoration process.  We take the time to make sure you understand what’s going on .

You can count on us.  Word of mouth customer promotion of our business has been very important to our success. To keep that going, we know we’re only as good as our latest job.  You’ll always receive our very best work.

Respect for your property and possessions.  You can trust us to carefully move, and cover everything in our work area to protect what you’ve worked so hard for.

SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills Helps a Yorba Linda Business Owner with a Mold Problem

Mold Remediation SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills Helps a Yorba Linda Business Owner with a Mold Problem When a home owner's plans to install a hardwood floor turned into a 'oldies but moldies' hit parade, SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills got things back in tune

We do a lot of mold remediation work at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills.  We’re experts in it and our reputation has been built on our knowledge and ability to achieve results.

Recently, a Yorba Linda business owner had contracted to have hardwood floors installed in his business.  When the installers arrived  and started lifting the old flooring, they discovered something they were not prepared for or equipped to resolve; a nasty black mold culture covering the concrete slab underneath the old floor.

As it worked out, SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills has enjoyed a long relationship with the owners of the flooring company and, on the owner’s referral, we were invited to the job site to provide an inspection and write an estimate.

Our project manager, Edgar, has over fifteen years of experience and his  knowledge and he was able to quickly determine the most efficient and effective way to permanently remove the black mold growth.  Upon acceptance of the estimate, the rest of the project team was dispatched to the work site.  They quickly removed any damaged areas of flooring and then used special liquid biocides to clean up the mold that had been growing underneath the original floor.  A containment system and engineering controls including HEAP air filters were used to clean the air in the affected room without allowing mold spores to travel through the air to any other parts of the commercial structure.  This thorough remediation process successfully ensured that black mold would not be a cause for any possible health issues among the company’s employees or anyone else who might visit the business in the future.

The team at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills always feels rewarded when a project goes well.  Of course, there’s a sense of pride in a job well done, and when – as in this case – the customer takes the time to write us a positive review on Yelp, there’s that additional sense of gratification.

We have a great team here.  We enjoy helping our customers, and we enjoy working with each other.  We’re all of the same mind.  The customers’ needs come first.  We do our level-best to deliver on our promises every time.  We only do great work, and we stay at a project until the job is complete.  Our reputation in Southern California has led to our position as the #1 SERVPRO franchise in California and we’re not about to slow down now!

Professional Storm Damage Restoration

9/15/2018 (Permalink)

Storm Damage Professional Storm Damage Restoration After a storm, you need an ally on your team. Call SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills and we'll make you feel 'Like it never even happened'!

Storms can lay some heavy damage on your home or commercial structure.  It’s frustrating that there’s no way to control the weather; however, what CAN be controlled is how you respond once the damage is done.  This blog hopes to make the right path clear to follow so you can get on with better things once the storm is over.

The most important decision to make – and its one you can make even before a storm hits – is to rely on professionals that are trained, experienced and trust-worthy to get you through the worst.  SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills has been helping home and business owners with water damage restoration for over eleven years.

Here’s how we approach storm damage restoration work at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills.

  1. Inspection

After the storm and resulting water damage, a SERVPRO Project Manager will come and thoroughly inspect your property for signs of ground water, roof damage, and wind damage.  Outside of Southern California, other companies will also look for signs of ice or hurricane damage.  The Project Manager uses what he knows to develop a custom restoration plan designed to Once they know the full extent of storm damage in question, a Project Manager from SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills can craft a home restoration plan to put the home or business back into a livable/ workable status again.

  1. Restoration Plan

Among other details, the storm restoration plan will detail the equipment that will be utilized during the restoration effort.  If there is standing water, a flood pump will drain any category I, II or III water  left behind by the storm.   Other common tools of the trade include air movers (industrial strength fans), air scrubbers (HEPA filters that clean the air to single digits among millions).   If situations require it, we also erect containments which seal off areas or entire rooms in order to prevent mold from invading otherwise ‘clean’ areas through the use of engineering controls.

  1. Empathy

Property owners are likely to find these times scary or anxious.  It can be overwhelming.  We know that nothing works to calm the nerves like a little added understanding of what’s happening to correct a bad situation.

Our customers find that we take the time to explain everything as we move through a restoration process.  This begins at customer intake, in our control center, and proceeds through the initial inspection and various restoration project stages until we’ve succeeded.

Don’t Spread Mold: What to Do Instead

9/15/2018 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation Don’t Spread Mold: What to Do Instead A highly trained and experienced SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills crew member constructs a containment in a mold contaminated room.

There’s a lot of things you want to spread around your home.  Love, laughter, good memories; all of these come to mind.  Healthy people draw the line, however, when it comes to mold.  This is one thing you definitely want to be spreading!

Here’s how to ensure you know what to do and, as importantly, what not to do in case of mold.

Do Not Disturb.

This rule applies as much to mold as it might apply to letting Dad sleep in on Saturday morning.

Mold can be spread if it’s disturbed.  In fact, mold actually spreads when microscopic mold spores are released into the air.  Released into the air, they can find another humid spot in close contact to wood fibers and voila – instant mold farm!

What to Do

  • If the musty, acrid stink of mold doesn’t naturally keep you away from it, keep this rule in mind: Stay Away.  You can do this most easily be avoiding affected areas.
  • Since mold spores travel through the air, keep the HVAC system turned off and don’t operate fans. Both of these devices create air currents that can spread mold spores.
  • Call the professionals in: Contact SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills for state-of-the-art mold remediation services.

What to Avoid

  • If you suspect mold growth on any surface (visible or otherwise) don’t blow air on it.
  • Don’t try and ‘quarterback’ this yourself. Mold remediation is highly technical.  Unless you’re trained and experienced, the chances are very good that you are going to only worsen the situation.
  • Don’t try and dry the area yourself. Again, this can actually make the situation worse.
  • Don’t spray disinfectants or bleach on the mold.

About Our Mold Remediation Services

SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills specializes in mold cleanup and restoration, in fact, it’s a cornerstone of our business.  Our crews are highly trained restoration professionals that use specialized equipment and techniques to properly remediate your mold problem quickly and safely.

Fire Damage Restoration; SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills Makes You Feel ‘Like it never even happened’.

9/15/2018 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Fire Damage Restoration; SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills Makes You Feel ‘Like it never even happened’. Call on the fire damage restoration experts at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills!

Though it’s not the worst that can happen when your Orange County home is damaged in a fire, smoke still takes a nasty toll in many ways.

When plastics and other synthetics burn, they create a tough-to-clean mess.  Likewise, when paper or wood burns, there is still soot and ash to contend with.  The fact that much of our furniture and most of our gadgets and appliances are at least partially composed of plastics means that the risk of the presence of poisonous gasses (produced when plastic burns or melts) is higher than it once was.

At SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills, we see a lot of homes with fire damage.  Our experience has shown that other materials present additional risks.  Glass doesn’t burn, but it can shatter.  Synthetics are yet another common material that burns and presents additional challenges.  You’ll find synthetic fibers in carpeting, insulation, lighting fixtures and more.  Poisonous gasses, smoke and soot danger and  odors that permeate the home once the fire is put out are all part of a fire disaster.

At SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills, we take personal pride in helping families and businesses get on with the daily pre-fire routines  as soon as possible.  We provide services such as:

  • Boarding up your structure
  • Tarping your home's roof (avoiding additional water damage in case it rains)
  • Removing charred materials
  • Cleaning up soot
  • Removing the firefighters' water and foam
  • Drying out the structure
  • Deodorizing your home (ridding it of the smoke smell)

After a fire,  you’ve got a lot to think about.  We excel in helping our customers feel better by knowing things are under control and progressing back to ‘normaL’.  We’re ready to answer the many questions you’re certain to have.  Our highly trained, certified, experienced and trustworthy team members are personally vested in your quick recovery.

How To Detect Mold Growth In Your Home or Business

9/14/2018 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation How To Detect Mold Growth In Your Home or Business In this photo, a wooden baseboard provided the cellulose mold needed to grow in a humid room in our customer's home.

There may not be too many things home or business owners can hear that will make them feel as bummed out about their home than “You have visible mold.”    The fact that the message our customer’s smart-aleck brother delivered the message by saying, “Nice biology experiment you’ve got growing there on your bathroom wall, John!” didn’t make it go down any easier.

We know our customer’s want this disgusting and potential health risk gotten rid of right away so we offer rapid removal services.  Of course, it’s better to catch mold growth yourself.  After all, who wants a smart-aleck brother offering a snide comment like that?

As an assist to all family members everywhere, we at SERVPRO have compiled a checklist of ways to detect potential mold in their house.

About Mold

Mold grows in moist places where it can find cellulose fibers to eat.  It can be found anywhere and everywhere inside and outside the home.   It only takes 48 hours for a mold culture to start growing, so in the case of water damage, acting rapidly to proceed with restoration can actually help you avoid the necessity of mold remediation later!

Finding Mold

Just follow your nose.

You know that smell that wet laundry gets if it doesn’t get tried soon enough?  Mold smells like that.  It’s a musty, earthy, slightly sweet odor.  If your mold growth isn’t actually visible, but you still have that odd, lingering odor, it’s a good guess that mold may be involved.

Look for these tell-tale signs

Mold comes in many colors, but we wouldn’t suggest decorating your home with it!

Common colors include green, grey, brown, white and black.  Black mold is actually most commonly found.

Look in wet areas

Good places to check include your kitchen and bathroom sinks, bathtubs and shower stalls.  Laundry rooms are also common places for mold to start growing.  If your home has a basement, you should check there, too.  If your basement tends to leak in the rainy season or if you notice that odd, musty smell there, it’s almost certain.

What’s Up?

No, really.  Have you seen water spots on your ceiling?  It could mean that you have condensation or humidity issues there.  You may have trapped water above your ceiling from a recent rain that has allowed mold to grow.  Likewise, there might be a leaky pipe running through an attic that’s creating enough moisture for mold to take hold.

Follow your footsteps

Mold can also grow in the dust, debris and moisture collecting on your floor.  Carpet is a great sponge to retain water and its also terrific at trapping dust.  This creates the perfect environment for mold to start growing.

Check your walls

Signs of paint peeling or wall staining might also indicate moisture exposure, so mold is a risk.  If you see these signs, look more closely.  Two things might be occurring.  One, the mold may be growing on the exterior surface of the wall.  Two, and worse, the mold may have begun on the interior side of the wall and spread and is now poking out the other side.

What to Do Next

Now that you’ve discovered mold growth, the next thing to do right away is to call SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills in to start mold remediation!

We are trained and experienced in using moisture detecting sensors that will indicate whether you’ve got excessive moisture in your home.  If we detect it, our next step will be to help you call a testing lab in.  Assuming the lab test is positive, we’ll work with you to get a remediation plan in motion right away.

To get moving on this, please give us a call at:  714-776-6222

Get Ready for The Unexpected – SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills Is Ready: Avoiding Water Damage in Storm Season.

9/14/2018 (Permalink)

Storm Damage Get Ready for The Unexpected – SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills Is Ready: Avoiding Water Damage in Storm Season. Ceiling stains like this can originate from broken/ leaking pipes or storm leaks. Unless the root cause has been corrected, they may occur again.

It’s time to get ready for the unexpected.  You don’t need to be in North Carolina this weekend to know that earth’s weather is getting more unpredictable.  Storms can wreak terrible damage on homes and businesses and as a property owner,  you’ll need to know what to happen when the unthinkable actually becomes your reality.

The Winter of 2018/19 – It’s Going to Be an El Nino Year

The latest predictions are for an El Nino year.  For those of us in Southern California, that’s likely to mean a colder and wetter year than usual.  This could be troubling news for those of us living in communities like Garden Grove, Fullerton, Mission Viejo, Anaheim, Placentia, Villa Park, San Juan Capistrano, Lake Forest and other communities.  Knowing what to do in these circumstances can help you save your property.

What Could Happen

Storm Damage

Hailstorms might be more common, since the temperatures are forecast to be colder than usual.  When hailstones get bigger, such as pellet-size to softball size, they can leave nasty dents and dings on cars, damage roofing shingles and other parts of the home and property.

Southern Californians are also well acquainted with strong winds – they blow through our towns every fall, ripping tree limbs from trees, blowing the occasional tumbleweed down streets, and generally raising hell.  In all this blustery chaos, it’s not uncommon for damage to be done to roof shingles and drain spouts.  Un-noticed, this can spell trouble because we all knows what comes next; the rains!  Here’s what you should look out for after the winds finally die down:

  • Missing shingles, shutters or pieces of siding
  • Blown out windows
  • Cracks, chipping and splitting in siding, stucco, paint or wood
  • Dings and dents on roofing, siding, door frames and windowsills/windowpanes

Water Damage

Sometimes, the telltale signs of prior wind and damage are hiding in plain sight.  If the root causes of leaks have not been addressed, it’s very possible that in the next rains, you’ll be experiencing more trouble.  If it’s happened before it can happen again.

Following a storm this year, be on guard for visible water damage signs like:

  • Water spots or discoloration on ceilings
  • Walls or surfaces
  • Soggy and/or expanding wood
  • Leaks in the ceiling or roof
  • Damp, musty odor (indication of mold growth)

What’s Next

Once your super-sharp, Dick Tracy type sleuthing has uncovered possible storm damage, you ought to call SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills.  Our team members are sensitive to your emergency situation. We’ll come with a sense of urgency and provide you a complete consult and estimate for the restoration services.

We’ve even had experiences with property owners who, overwhelmed with the situation, have even needed our help top contact their insurance providers.   We care about our customers and we go the extra mile.

When the green light flashes, we start in.  First, the drying out process.  Time is critical; mold can form in under 48 hours, wooden floors and wood wall paneling is subject to buckling.  We want to help you save on those un-necessary added expenses!

We work with state of the art equipment such as water extractors that completely drain any standing water.  Air movers are used to thoroughly dry carpeting, walls, ceilings etc.  If your walls have wicked up water, we open them up to thoroughly dry wooden studs.  If your commercial structure is composed of metal studs, this is less necessary (other than removing any water collected in the bottom brackets.  If we sense mold growth, we’ll recommend a lab test; if tests are positive, we perform complete mold remediation services.

Slab Leak? It’s No Problem for the Restoration Heroes at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills!

9/14/2018 (Permalink)

Water Damage Slab Leak? It’s No Problem for the Restoration Heroes at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills! Because SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills responded rapidly and professionally, we were able to save these beautiful wooden floors in this Santa Ana home.

We see a lot of water damage at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills.  One of the more common causes is a slab leak.  Slab leaks happen when the water lines running under your home’s concrete slab start to break.  Many things can cause this; for instance, in our region there are many minor fault lines.  Any movement, magnified by the weight of the home sitting on top of the concrete can be enough to rupture a pipe and start a slab leak.

While this is an unfortunate situation, the good news is that SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills has considerable experience helping customers with this type of water damage.

Recently, we helped a home owner in Santa Ana with water damage which resulted from a slab leak.

Our customer discovered the slab leak and started addressing the situation with a call to her plumber.  Her plumber was able to stop the leak but, knowing that this was not a permanent fix, advised her to call a restoration company.  She reached out to us and we were happy to help.  We responded immediately and sent a Project Manager out to help her.

Edgar, our Project Manager,  conducted his professional inspection and showed the home owner that she had water damage in her kitchen, hallway and bathroom.  Upon approval of the homeowner’s claim, the insurance company authorized us to begin work and we were able to send a crew out the same day to begin the water damage restoration work.

The restoration heroes from SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills first got to work by removing some of the laminate flooring in each room. The slab leak was so severe that we had no choice but to remove some of the flooring that had already started buckling and coming up on its own.

Step two was to use a moisture sensor to measure the relative wetness of all the walls and identify any that had absorbed water from the slab leak.  Those that did required drying, so we partially demolished the drywall in order to dry out the wooden studs in the walls.  Using air movers (commercial grade fans), we dried out the affected studs.

Another, similar example of water damage from a slab leak was encountered in a home we worked on in Foothill Ranch.  A customer discovered damage to his wood flooring.   His Yelp search brought him to our page and a few of the comments left by our very satisfied past customers.  Liking what he saw, the home owner called our call center and we rushed our Project Manager, Jonathan out to inspect the property and provide a quote.

After a meticulously performed inspection, Jonathan told the home owner that there was water damage in the bathroom, hallway and underneath the staircase.  Jonathan also called our Crew Chief, Jose Melgar, in to develop a remediation plan due head off any spread of the damage that had already begun.

With a very detailed work plan in place, we sent out our crack team of water damage restoration experts to get the job done. Ultimately, that team removed the affected drywall and, because of the great efforts we took, we also were able to save the very expensive wood flooring.  Our work plan included strategic placement of the drying equipment in the affected areas and drying out the saturated framing studs. Minimal removal was required.

Don’t let a slab leak ruin your home – contact SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills today!  We’ll correct what’s wrong and make your day alright!  Curious to know more about our work from actual customer’s comments?  Have a look at our Testimonials page:  http://www.SERVPROanaheimhills.com/testimonials
