How to Identify Your Best Restoration, Remediation and Cleaning Service Company/ Will the Real Benjamin Franklin Please Stand Up?

6/27/2018 (Permalink)

I was shopping recently and when the clerk rang up my order I handed him a one-hundred dollar bill.  Instead of just inserting the bill into the cash drawer, he held the bill up in the air and looked to see the light from the overhead fluorescents pass through it.  The new series bill uses color-shifting ink.  As the clerk tilted it back and forth in the light, the color of the number in the lower right-hand corner shifted between green and black.    Apparently, there are a bunch of other ways you can tell a fake from the “real deal”.

At SERVPRO Anaheim Hills, we think there is a really important lesson to be learned here.

Our law enforcement system is tough on counterfeiters.  This crime carries a conviction for the offense of up to 20 years in prison and a fine.  The economic consequences justify the heavy penalty.  Currently, there are $60 Million dollars in counterfeit bills in circulation.  But this is just .01% of the total size of our economy.  The reason the penalty is so severe is because our country wants to avoid what could happen if people lost confidence in the value of our currency.  For instance, it could lead to significant inflation all because businesses would raise the prices of their goods to compensate for the real value they are losing when they are paid in fake money.

Selecting  the right restoration, remediation and cleaning service provider is an important decision for many reasons.   Let’s start with a best case (to you) situation and say you saved a little money hiring an unknown restoration and remediation company.  Was it really less expensive or are there hidden costs?  How do you know the job was done properly?  What could the consequences be if the service company took a few shortcuts?

At SERVPRO Anaheim Hills, you’ll always receive the “real deal”.  No counterfeits.  No shortcuts.

Properly Credentialed:  In most cases, our field technicians will arrive at your home or office to help you feel more at ease.  We’ll assess the damages your property has endured, explain how we will solve the crisis for you, and provide you with a written estimate.  If asked, our highly trained and experienced technicians will show you proof of our contractor’s license, insurance and bond paperwork.  Our staff is highly trained in property damage restoration. Mold and Water Damage Calls for SERVPRO Help

2/26/2016 (Permalink)

It’s a well-known fact that water damage and mold damage tend to go hand in hand. That’s why we at SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills are trained in both. We know how close together the two problems are and know how to get rid of both safely. As soon as you notice water damage in your home, be sure to give us a call as soon as possible. It will keep the damage to a minimum and lower the threat of mold in the future.

A homeowner in Pasadena recently called us in need of some help in his kitchen. He had come home one day to find that the shut-off valve underneath the sink had broken and was flooding the entire kitchen. He knew immediately that this was out of his control. He called his plumber out to the home, and they immediately told him to call SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills, as we would be able to get the water damage removed quickly.

He gave us a call and we dispatched our Project Manager, Uriel Valencia, to the home. Uriel’s inspection showed that thankfully the water damage had been contained to the kitchen, but there was a lot of damage. He talked to the homeowner about their possible solutions. As soon as they came upon an agreement as to what damage needed to be removed, Uriel called our Crew Chief and technicians to come out to the home and get the work started.

We arrived promptly and got to work. We started out by extracting all of the water from the kitchen. From there, we removed all of the cabinets, as the water had been too much for them. We then actually found some mold behind the cabinets so we had to perform a mold remediation to ensure the homeowner’s safety after we left. Finally, we dried everything out with our powerful air movers and dehumidifiers.

The homeowner was so happy with our work. He was glad his plumber had recommended SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills, as he truly felt that he could not have received better service anywhere else. He told us he would absolutely be calling again in the future.

Pipe Leak Leads to Mold Remediation in Anaheim Hills

Water damage and mold damage tend to go hand-in-hand. The first has a high possibility of leading to the second, especially when left untreated. Mold may cause health effects, so if you or someone in your family notices any sort of water damage, immediately call a water damage restoration company like SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills to get it removed properly.

One homeowner in Anaheim Hills gave us a call recently after finding water damage in their ceiling. Their first call had been to their plumber, who found the leaky pipe above their family room. He fixed the pipe but recommended the homeowners call a restoration company for the water damage removal. The homeowners took to Yelp to find the best company. At the top of the list, they found SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills.

After a quick call, we dispatched Chris Trejo, our Project Manager. He visited the home and performed a quick inspection to see what needed to be done in the home. After determining that SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills would be perfect for the job, he called Cesar Arcila, our Crew Chief, out to the home to lead a team of talented technicians in the removal.

Our technicians got to work immediately. We removed some of the ceiling in the living room, and in doing so found some threats for mold. Because of this, we also removed some insulation and sprayed anti-microbial on the exposed studs. Per the customer’s request, we did not set up any equipment, but just removed what needed to be removed.

The homeowners were so happy with our work! They were pleased we listened to all their requests, including the lack of equipment. They loved that we took care of the studs as well so no mold would grow. Yelp proved to be their greatest asset in this whole ordeal, and they promised to call again if needed!

Cracks in Your Foundation: What Does it Mean?

10/14/2015 (Permalink)

The short answer: nothing good. Homes age like we do, and sometimes end up with a few problems. One of these major problems is a foundation crack. Though it may seem like it’s just your home’s way of settling, it is always a serious problem that needs to be addressed. A cracked foundation means your home is literally moving and unstable. This lack of stability means the structure of your home could bend or even collapse.

At SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills, we understand the seriousness of a cracked foundation and want you to understand as well. Here’s what a cracked foundation can mean for you:

• Water Damage: We talk about it a lot, but it’s true. With a cracked foundation, water from rain can leak into the crack and soak what’s underneath. The more water that seeps in, the faster the crack will spread. That means the integrity of your home is at risk that much quicker. When water damage is involved, the foundation can bow in and ruin the structure of the home.

• Terrible Termites: With a large crack beneath your home, you create that much more space for termites. Once they get in, they will start gnawing on the structure and woodwork of your home, compromising it even further.

• Perpetual Problems: A cracked foundation can be a sign of other serious structure problems as well. A degrading foundation is when water leaks into the foundation and erodes it away. This is most common in homes built in the early 1900s. A degrading foundation is also possible in homes where cement was poorly made or improperly poured.

Keep an eye on your foundation. If it makes you feel better (and it would certainly make us feel better), have a professional come out and evaluate it. If you or they notice water damage in your home, be sure to give us a call immediately. At SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills, we want to help you. Call us any day of the year, any time of the day and we will happily send someone out to your home.
