A Water Damaged Ceiling From a Recent Storm. SERVPRO of Anaheim Hills Comes to the Rescue.
The recent rain made a lot of people happy; in Southern California, rain is always welcome! One of our customers, a store owner with a shop in a Brea-based strip mall was definitely NOT happy though. Not with the damage done to his ceiling!
Our dispatch team got the call early in the morning and by 9:30 a.m., our working owner, Edgar, was standing outside the shop preparing to talk with the business owner.
The inspection work was very straightforward; it was clear what had happened and the restoration plan was also very 'text-book'. Edgar explained to the owner what needed to happen, provided a quote, which the owner agreed to immediately and by 10:00 a.m., work was underway.
In the 'before' photo, you can see how the rain had damaged the ceiling. The 'after' photo shows the structure behind the ceiling. In order to dry the studs out, we needed to open up the ceiling so that our air blowers could quickly dry the wet wood. Getting to this quickly was very important. It only takes 48 hours for a mold colony to form. We were still in time to avoid further damage to the store.
In between the first and second photo, we had demo'd the ceiling and meticulously bagged every scrap. While we were in process, we'd tarped the customer's inventory and laid down plastic floor runners in order to prevent tracking in dirt. It took two days to completely dry the store out. While work was in process, we'd placed a large tarp on the roof of the structure, in case any more rain might fall.
